The Three Things You Need To Know About Interning at Magnani

My first two weeks as an Account Intern at Magnani have been an interesting learning experience. No two days have been quite the same. From preparing for client visits to researching and analyzing current market trends, I’ve had the opportunity to work on various assignments and collaborate with different staff members, all while learning how an independent advertising agency functions.

Being an Account Intern at Magnani requires a person to have a more entrepreneurial mind set.

Being an Account Intern at Magnani requires a person to have a more entrepreneurial mind set, due to the fact that every intern is primarily responsible for finding his or her own projects to work on. It’s up to each intern to establish connections with other staff members and find ways to contribute to ongoing client requests. This process can be a little challenging at first, since most Account Executives are usually managing multiple projects and working under tight deadlines. It can also be a little intimidating to offer help on projects, especially when you’re still a brand-new intern at the agency.

Fortunately, each account intern is assigned a specific mentor, who’s available to provide support or answer any general questions during the whole internship experience. Being able to rely on my mentor during my first two weeks has really helped me learn some of the inner-workings behind the agency and get familiarized with other staff members. During the first week, my mentor was able to arrange an opportunity for me to provide assistance with an all-in company meeting, known as Interact.

The Interact event is a bi-monthly meeting in which two staff members are selected to present some of Magnani’s client work to the entire agency. For this particular event, I was tasked with collecting examples of work to put together for the final presentation. Getting the opportunity to help with Interact event gave me key insight into the sort of work that Magnani’s creative team produces for their clients, including Marriott  and CNA Financial Corporation. It was also a good way for me to get acquainted with the entire staff and observe how different groups can come together to finalize a client’s project.

My experience has provided me with an opportunity to demonstrate that I can be counted on to meet my obligations on a particular project.

Overall, these past two weeks have been an engaging learning experience and have taught me a lot about working at an advertising agency. But most importantly, my experience has provided me with an opportunity to demonstrate that I can be counted on to meet my obligations on a particular project. I’m really hoping to get another chance to work on some more challenging assignments as I continue my internship, as well as the opportunity to make a bigger contribution to the entire team.
