IMG_4395 (1).JPG

Erin Diehl is the CEO and founder of Improve It and she is no stranger to this podcast. Erin's first visit to the Chicago Marketing Podcast was a fan favorite and in the weeks following she reached out to host Michael Dennis inquiring about how to launch her own Improve It podcast and incorporate it into their promotion and outreach. Instead of having this discussion over a cup of coffee, Michael invited the Improve It squad back on the podcast to give them, as well as the listening audience, the scoop on how to utilize an original podcast to strategically grow your business and expand your brand. Erin and Improve It's Director of Operations Allison Keller join Michael in-studio to discuss:

  • The importance of establishing a content calendar
  • Researching your target audience
  • Developing goals for your podcast
  • The importance of guests and partners
  • How to determine and establish a structure for each episode

5 Questions to Ask Before Launching Your New Venture

5 Questions to Ask Before Launching Your New Venture

You have a big idea! It's timely, novel and a real game changer. The question immediately following the big idea is always (or should be) how big is the opportunity, really? Well, actually, the answer to that is more easily parsed into these five basic questions, each of which has the potential to be a make or break when it comes to real-world outcomes.

Marketing’s VR Problem

Marketing’s VR Problem

Today, VR is not delivering on its potential in any way that is compelling from a marketing or advertising perspective. If we take a deeper look at adoption rates, then VR will never really scale to be important. It will be the next LaserDisc. So, what happened?

Apple's Safari Update Will Change Internet Monetization

Apple's latest string of announcement brought some news that is still reverberating throughout the advertising world. That’s because Apple is introducing strict new privacy protection in its mobile Safari browser on the iPhone. The update to Apple’s Safari browser prevents ad networks from effectively tracking your browsing history through the use of cross site tracking. The new intelligent tracking prevention features stops third-party sources (e.g.: major ad networks) from effectively creating a copy of your browsing history via tracking cookies stored on your device. Michael and Alayna talk all about it.

Apple vs. The Mad Men: Can marketing and privacy co-exist?

Apple vs. The Mad Men: Can marketing and privacy co-exist?

The release of iOS 11 could introduce the greatest threat to the Web as we know it. That’s because Apple is introducing strict new privacy protection in its mobile Safari browser that will prevent ad networks from effectively tracking your browsing history through cross site tracking. While advertisers claim the process is benign, many believe that in the hands of a malicious entity, this information could be used to nefarious ends.

And as the internet continues to empower your customers to price compare among a virtually infinite set of your competitors, this process will only continue to accelerate. Politics & Social Media Part I

1501860201949.jpg

Politics and Social Media seem to go hand-in-hand in 2017. There has been a large percentage of Facebook users who have become increasingly frustrated with the vitriol and tone of the conversations taking place on the platform. There is also a percentage of users who enjoy the competitiveness and continually involve themselves in the conversation. What does this mean for marketers? Are people fleeing Facebook? And if so, are they migrating or are they leaving Social Media entirely. In this week's episode Alayna & Michael discuss the numbers behind newsfeed.
