Client Strategy Director

We are looking to fill the role of Client Strategy Director

 The Client Strategy Director is responsible for the supervision and overall success of agency relationships with specific clients. The Client Strategy Director drives the development of strategy and planning for key clients/projects, oversees all client-specific strategic and account service activities and processes, and contributes to personnel management within the strategy/account planning team. The Client Strategy Director reviews all client creative concepts to confirm whether they meet strategic goals before they are delivered to the client for approval.

The Client Strategy Director reports to the Vice President Strategy & Account Planning

Experience level: 10+ years experience within agency or marketing department.

 Primary responsibilities:

The Director of Client Strategy is responsible for the supervision and overall success of agency relationships with specified client/project.

  • Provide strategic and marketing leadership by working closely with the client to uncover business needs and objectives, craft appropriate strategies, and identify/implement initiatives to help achieve client/project goals.
  • Demonstrates and cultivates a solid understanding of client’s business, business drivers, customer segments and competitive set.
  • Drives marketing and creative strategies and makes recommendations based on relevant customer insight.
  • Develops strategic documentation, including, but not limited to creative briefs, research reports, strategic documentation and recommendations.
  • Actively seeks opportunities to share knowledge, best practices, case studies or other program results across team.
  • Create and interpret effective analysis, including primary and secondary market research, to support marketing recommendations.
  • Contributes to client team education, development & retention
  • Working with VP Strategy & Account Planning to ensure client strategy is supported by all agency plans and tactics.
  • Identifies opportunities within the client to aid in their business transformation and oversees recommendations to grow the business.
  • Participates in key internal meetings with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Copywriters, Production, Technical Directors, Application Directors, Information Architects, Media Developers and Administrative Managers.
  • Presents and participates in key client meetings, including but not limited to strategic planning meetings, creative presentations, client sales meetings, etc.
  • Daily oversight and mentorship of specified strategy/account planning personnel and facilitating the work needed by the client, including review of client correspondence: creative briefs, conference reports, call reports, estimates, invoices, job status reports and creative concepts. 
  • Consults in interviewing, hiring, management, assessment and annual reviews of client-specific strategy/account planning personnel.
  • Ensures a smooth workflow between the client, strategy/account planning team, project managers and the creative department.
  • Overseeing and ensuring account stability by assessing client satisfaction with the agency, reviewing findings with Senior Management, and proposing any changes to account structure when necessary.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • The Client Strategy Director may also participate in new business activities.
  • Along with the Lead Creative, the Client Strategy Director reviews all client creative concepts to confirm whether they meet strategic goals before they are delivered to the client for approval.
  • Works with Senior Management and Project Managers to manage the overall client budget and ensure account profitability.
  • Implementation and oversight of strategy/account planning processes on specified client/project, including, but not limited to, documentation, reporting and other strategic processes.
  • Works with integrated team to ensure on-time quality execution of client initiatives.
  • Oversees bi-annual client reviews and project reviews for identified key clients.
  • Actively participates in financial reviews and profitability of account/project.
  • Consults in annual performance reviews for client-specific account service personnel.
  • Maintaining relationships with key client vendor resources, including research companies and media partners
  • Overseeing, coordination of ‘value-added’ agency contributions for the client
